Finn Juhl: "One cannot create happiness with beautiful objects, but one can spoil quite a lot with bad ones".

Designer and architect Finn Juhl (1912 - 1989) was one of the key members of the Danish Modern movement, along with Arne Jacobsen, Hans J. Wegner, Poul Kjærholm and Kaare Klint. In 1942, he designed a house and studio for himself and his family in Ordrup, outside Copenhagen. The House, open to the public since 2008, has since become recognized as the embodiment of Nordic Design. 

For his own house, originally shared with his first wife Inge-Marie Skaarup, Juhl followed the same principles, creating a relationship between the building and the furniture and works of art inside it. He designed all of the furniture, with much of it handcrafted by Niels Vodder for the Cabinetmakers' Guild Exhibition in 1937.
