Visit this east London restaurant that combines fresh seasonal ingredients with calm earthy surroundings.

The chef, James Lowe, who ran The St. John's kitchen before launching Lyle's, still celebrates local ingredients, daily sourcing fresh seasonal produce from small family-run producers. The style of his restaurant is gently inspired by his participation in 'The Young Turks' collective, which has also hosted other notable chefs.

Lyle's Restaurant is located in The Tea Building in Shoreditch, which also hosts the infamous Shoreditch House, The Cowshed Spa, Pizza East, and several communication agencies. James favours creating a set menu of seven courses, reasonably priced, which changes daily - depending on seasonal availability. If one might wish to decide upon their own menu, you have to choose lunch instead of dinner, where several dishes are available to from a list to choose from, however, we were absolutely delighted to try the set menu which perfectly presented the ingredients one would wish for in the given season.

The interior of the restaurant is light, simple, and slightly Scandinavian, and appeals to the design-orientated crowd who doesn’t like opulence, but instead a more down-to-earth approach - the warehouse building adds an industrial touch but combined with wooden tables and chairs, a sense of warmth was restored. The presentation of the food is simple, artistic, with a splash of colour that opposed the surrounding interior design, that’s kept in a neutral palette. A similar experience in character as 'The Clove Club' restaurant also situated in Shoreditch – which we also recommend.
